Called to the fire?
Many of us have wished, somewhere along the way, for more. Not a different faith, but a deeper way of living the one we have — a rule to shape our days, a community to share them, a sense of belonging to something with roots.
We are founding the Congregation of Saint Augustine, the first Augustinian Order in the Old Catholic Church.
If your calling is to serve at the altar, become a permanent deacon, or a diocesan priest, please reach out as well. We are a welcoming and affirming Church; we welcome all to a loving discernment process that will help us find the best place for you to serve our Lord.
But if you think you have a calling for a religious life, either as clergy or a lay person, we are founding an Augustinian community in the Old Catholic tradition — a life of common prayer, study, and mission, gathered around this altar and sent out from it. Ours is a fire that moves us; once received, it moves us to carry into the world.
Love Proved was Augustine’s phrase. It means love without action, a noun without a verb, does not heal us. Love requires action. It is a verb. Love Proved.

How do you know if you are being called?
If you listen in the silence to the voice of God, to gentle pulls and pushes from those around us, from the environment, do you feel an urging for more? Do you feel a desire to walk more closely with God, to follow Christ’s call, to unify more closely with the Holy Spirit, but you wish to do it in community? Reach out and let’s discuss this — you may have a vocation for religious life.
Who can serve?
This community is welcoming and affirming. People of every gender, sexual orientation, and background are not simply allowed here; they are received as gifts. We make room for those whom other groups have turned away.
How can you serve?
There are three ways to belong. Some are called to ordained ministry. Some become consecrated members who take vows. Some become lay companions who live our spirit in their own homes and workplaces.
